Hey Aeros’ fans, Joe O’Donnell here, live from the 2011 NHL Entry Draft in St. Paul. I’m currently in a suite at Xcel Energy Center with some Wild scouts, family members, and front-office staffers – and the first round of the draft is almost halfway over.
The Wild just selected soon-to-be, 18-year-old defenseman Jonas Brodin (pronounced: yo-nus bro-DEEN), a Swedish-born blue liner. He’s listed at 6’1″, 170 lbs – Brodin played last season in the Swedish Elite League with Farjestad, recording four assists in 42 games.
Moments ago, Brodin was live on the video board saying, he “plays easy” and likes to be in the right position and read plays. He’s been compared (loosely, I guess) to the great Niklas Lidstrom.

I promise to have an Aeros post-season blog and audio interviews with Jed Ortmeyer and Drew Bagnall posted in the very near future. I also hope to talk with former Aeros’ head coach Mike Yeo and Aeros’ GM Jim Mill here in St. Paul and will get those interviews up as well.
Enjoy the draft – wherever you may be watching / following from…
