We are roughly 15 minutes from warm-ups and 30 minutes from the start of tonight’s broadcast as I frantically try to type some thoughts for you prior to Game 5 against the Admirals…this may be kind of “stream of conscious” writing or whatever that term is, so bear with me.
From the Aeros’ perspective, the thing that stands out the most is whether or not this team “feels challenged” – by that, I mean: this team has always responded from a poor game with a solid game and now the question is whether they can play a great game after playing a great one 24 hours ago. It’s a weird question, I know. But Mike Yeo literally said to me a few minutes ago: “How will we respond after playing a great game last night?”
Let’s hope the Aeros feel the pressure to play great and subsequently respond with an urgency and passion to their game tonight!
Really good stuff via Game Day Audio on aeros.com today – hope you check it out.
As for the Admirals, head coach Lane Lambert was honest in his assessment of his team’s poor play last night and expects a better effort. He “called out” several players, including veteran defenseman Aaron Johnson when I specifically asked about him – saying he’s a leader and needs to step up. Look for the Admirals to juggle some of their lines tonight as they break up the duo of Chris Mueller and Gabriel Bourque (2 combined points this series) in an effort to get them back on track offensively.
No lineup changes for the Aeros – 3 new forwards in from last night for the visitors and they are: Ryan Flinn, Michael Latta and Austin Watson.
A little more numbers-karma for ya:
- The Aeros are 3-0 in Calder Cup Game 5’s when the series is tied 2-2 and they’ve gone on to win all of those series
Enjoy tonight’s pivotal Game 5!
