F0r those of you in the Houston area, Aeros Head Coach Mike Yeo is scheduled to be on the air with Sean and Barry (The Odd Couple) on SportsRadio 610 at 9 p.m. on Monday night talking the Aeros playoffs push, the race for the No. 1 seed in the West as well as NHL playoffs and what it takes to be a champion. Mike was the captain of the 1999 Turner Cup Aeros team and helped the Pittsburgh Penguins win the Stanley Cup as an assistant coach in 2009.
By the way, if you’re not in Houston you can listen on this wonderful new invention called the Internets (CLICK HERE TO LISTEN). I’m told the Internets is a series of tubes, and that Al Gore invented it. Cool. Apparently CBS Radio has a mobile app for your phone that will allow you to listen called IHeartRadio.
SR 610 also has a rather interesting contest up on their site voting for the most eye pleasing local news ladies. It’s down to the final 8. Although they caught some heat for it, I still think it’s pretty cool and it’s all in good fun.
While you’re perusing around the Web, make sure you visit the Aeros Facebook page and “like” it. Right now, the Aeros are kicking the buhjeebers out of Texas and San Antonio in the Facebook Fan Faceoff (FBFF). Someone will win Final Four tickets, and since the Aeros are going to win the FBFF, both the Stars and Rampage are going to have to pony up some dough for the Aeros to donate to a charity of our choice. Sweet.
Finally, while we’re on the topic of local media, check out these two stories.
The first one is from KTRK ABC 13 and our buddy Tim Melton and it hits on what we’ve been trying to wake people up to; the Aeros are good, and they’re likely the only Houston team locals can root for in a playoff run.
The second one is about the growth of sled hockey in Houston brought to you by the affable Winston Dutchin over at KPRC NBC 2. I’ve seen sled hockey before on TV but I never got to see it in person until a recent Aeros game. It’s amazing.
